15 November 2009AEG Introduces Fish Transfer Tank
ST. ANDREWS, NB - AEG Inc. (St. Andrews, NB) today introduces its Fish Transfer Tank to reliably transport fish of any species throughout farm operations (e.g., from the hatchery to distant sea cages). Attributes of the AEG Fish Transfer Tank include:
- Specifications - 3.66 m (12') x 2.44 m (8') x 1.68+ m (5'6'+) (L x W x H) to provide 14 m3 volume. Empty weight: 1 MT; Full salt water weight: 15 MT (fittings, pipes and pumps additional weight).
- Material - Fabricated entirely with marine grade aluminum to reduce tank weight while reducing corrosion. All structural beams are located outside of the tank to provide a smooth inner surface to increase fish welfare.
- Design - Top pyramidal design to minimize water movement during transport and tapered bottom towards the outlet to ease fish evacuation from the tank.
- Water Exchange - Two water inlets located on either side of the front bottom of the tank provides pump redundancy while on the vessel during transport and one water outlet located at the top of the tank allows overflow of excess water. This design allows for a complete water exchange in the tank every 30 minutes using a single 6.5 hp 2" water pump. Fittings also included for installation of air stones to appropriately oxygenate holding water.
- Safe Use - Operator safety is optimized with a ladder located on the back outside wall of the tank to provide easy access to the top, slip proof surfaces on the top of the tank, and lifting eyes designed to allow transfer of the tank (empty or full) from a flat-bed trailer to the vessel.
- Fail Safe - Fail safe pipe valves and gates ensure that the operator has full control of water flow and fish transfer. All hoses connect using quick connect cam locks and water exchange occurs using a back-up pump strategy.
